In the Westing Game sixteen people, who do not know each other, are invited to live in Sunset Towers. These sixteen strangers are requested to gather at Sam Weston’s house for the reading of his will. After arriving at Mr. Weston’s home, the guests are informed that they will be playing a game to determine who killed Sam Weston. Not only was Mr. Weston killed but also according to the will, one of the new residents is the killer. The setting of the book takes place at Sunset Towers. Sunset Towers is a new apartment building in Michigan where the sixteen “heirs” were invited to live. It’s very odd that the building is named Sunset Towers yet the sun sets in the west and the building faces the east. It sits on Lake Michigan and one side of the building is covered in one-way glass. As part of the game they were spilt into teams, all trying to find out who killed Sam Weston. As the teams were divided some families were split up. Each team was given different clues to help them in their search. So now the heirs are not just trying to win the game but also trying to steal clues from one another. The winner of the game will inherit Mr. Weston’s fortune. The climax happens when Turtle Wexler figures out that Sam Weston is not dead but is actually disguised as Sandy McSouthers. The body the residents were shown was Mr. McSouthers, not Sam Weston’s. In the will it stated, “who will find the fourth”. No one knew what “the fourth” meant. Turtle Wexler was determined to figure it out. The resolution comes when Turtle figures out how to win. She discovers that Sam Weston was not only Sandy McSouthers but had also been Windy Windkloppel. This meant he had been three different people and what “the fourth” meant was to figure out who the fourth person was that he was disguised as. Turtle Wexler figured this out. She found that the fourth person was J.R. Eastman and won the game and the
