1. How does Kikuchi describe conditions prior to the evacuation of Japanese Americans? Prior to February 1942 and before Executive order 9066 passed, the Japanese had integrated into the United States and were citizens just like the rest of the population. Japanese owned stores, homes and attended college just like Kikuchi did.
Nick Adams from “Big Two-Hearted River,” Krebs from “Soldier 's Home,” and Alfred Prufrock all share the similarity in the sense that they are simply ordinary people who seem to be in a constant state of isolation, despite their many different and intricate personalities and circumstances. Nick Adams finds himself in the wilderness of Michigan completely alone. In fact, it is stated that, “There was no town, nothing but the rails and the burned-over country. The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace… Even the surface had been burned off the ground (Hemingway).”

In Soldier from the War Returning, Thomas Childers writes that “a curious silence lingers over what for many was the last great battle of the war.” This final battle was the soldier’s return home. After World War II, veterans came back to the United States and struggled with stigmatized mental illnesses as well as financial and social issues. During the war, many soldiers struggled with mental health issues that persisted after they came home.
When talking about the ANZAC legend, do we pay too much attention to the experience of Australian soldiers at Gallipoli and not enough attention to the experience of Australian soldiers on the Western Front? The ANZAC legend is an important part of what it means to be Australian. It was born on the 25th of April, 1915 when the ANZAC corps landed on Gallipoli. During the eight months of fighting on Gallipoli Australian troops showed great courage, endurance, initiative, discipline and mateship.

I strongly disagree with the internment of Japanese-Americans because it was unconstitutional, the Japanese-Americans showed loyalty by volunteering to fight in the 442nd combat team, and because of the hypocrisy of the situation. The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941 brought the United States into World War II. This brought worry and disgust from American citizens, towards the Japanese Americans and caused the passing of Executive Order 9066. The executive order imprisoned 110,000 of citizens in internment camps.

During the British occupation of Egypt in 1880, many anti-western sentiments rose as a result of Egyptian nationalism. As a result of the demonstrations and protests that erupted demanding for independence, many historians believe that it to be the catalyst for Egyptian feminism and activists demanding for higher education and equal rights. To what extent did the British occupation of Egypt lead to the rise of feminism from 1880 to 1930? The scope of my investigation is focused on the British occupation of Egypt from 1882 to 1930 when women’s problems were getting addressed.
Throughout the history of literature, it is clear that some storylines occur more than others. An example of this is the classic hero’s tale; which in western literature has evolved from Greek epics such as the story of the warrior, Odysseus, to American comic-book superheroes like Superman. As a childhood fanatic of these specific style of stories, I am typically inclined to watch any superhero movie that is released. Over the years I have begun to spot out patterns within these movies. After watching Fyodor Bondarchuk’s two part film, the Inhabited Island, and using my past knowledge of one of my favorite genre, I became convinced that this is another instantiation of the typical western superhero journey due to its character development of the main protagonist, Maxim, and its use of special effects.
