The Great Gatsby Movie The movie, The Great Gatsby directed by Jack Clayton was an okay movie. It was set in a fictional place called West Egg and East Egg, during the roaring twenties. The main characters are Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby, Sam Waterson plays Nick, and Robert Redford portrays Jay. 1974 The Great Gatsby was not very much worth screening, in my opinion. Jay and Nick are not particularly interesting people to me, and if I was not reading the book, i would not have watched this movie. It is a moderate movie. The plot of the movie was not predictable. The Great Gatsby is in Nick Carraway’s perspective. He has a sumptuously rich neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Jay betrays his peers, by consistently lying, but Nick still ends up growing fond of him. Gatsby falls in love with Nick's cousin. Although it is a forbidden love, Jay and Daisy pursue it for as long as possible. There were some shocking plot twist that I will not spoil, so I recommend this movie to find out. …show more content…

Jay showed that not even an abundance of money can buy someone’s love. He attempted to woo Nick’s cousin, Daisy with all his fortune, but he was unsuccessful, mostly because she found out that he was a fraud, but that still proved a valid point, that it does not work. A lesson that Nick shows viewers, is to not critique others, he explains in the beginning that he is incapable of judging others that are less fortunate than himself, or anyone for that matter.
