In the Lion King Simba the protagonist is going to be going through the Hero’s Journey. He’ll go through separation, Initiation and Transformation, and the Return. The Hero’s Journey serves as the tale every culture tells. The journey's path is described variously, but in general it includes the call to adventure, a supernatural aide or mentor, initiation by trials and adventures, victory, and return.
The Separation begins with Simba thinking that he killed his father but in reality Scar his uncle kills him. It all started with Scar telling Simba “not” to go into the elephant graveyard. Simba, Nala, and Zazu accidentally trespass into the elephant graveyard, which they later discover is the hyenas territory. The challenges of Simba in the Lion King is of course running away and all his accidents leading up to adulthood. But now that he has grown he must return to Pride Rock knowing everyone might not want him back, because he thinks he was the cause of his father's death. Before any of that happens he is met by his old friend Nala who has also grown up and informs him of the tragedy that has fallen across the Pride Lands. But the words of Nala aren’t enough to bring him to his senses. So he meets his father’s old mentor Rafiki and he tells Simba all he needs to know “Oh yes, the past can hurt, but you can either run from it, or learn from it. Asante sana Squash banana, Wiwi nugu mimi apana.” Meaning that Simba can either run from what has happen to his father or run into it confidently. After Simba finally understands what the crazy monkey was saying, Simba runs back to the Pride Lands in attempt to take back the throne from his evil uncle Scar. After all the exciting fighting of lions, were it looks like they didn’t even hurt themselves Simba finally kills Scar and becomes king of Pride
