The Great Gatsby took place around the 1920s where life was a party for some and tiring for others. Not many people had it as abundantly as Jay Gatsby. The Great Gatsby was directed by Baz Luhrmann. The year the movie was released was on May 1, 2013 and the length of the movie is 2 hours and 13 minutes long. The genre of the film is drama and also a romance film. The theme of this movie is the American dream, loyalty and love, and the emptiness of materialism money. The purpose of this film is to inform others of how it was like living in the 20s, to entertain the viewers with a romantic story involving deception, love, and betrayal, to persuade us by believing that money can’t always buy you happiness. She falls in love with Jay Gatsby but, soon loses touch with him for five years. In those five years she marries a man named Tom Buchanan. Tom Buchanan is known as a wealthy, racists man that is married to Daisy Buchanan. Nick Carraway is the narrator of the story. He is a Daisy Buchanan cousin and also the neighbor of Jay Gatsby. Nick is the main reason as to why Daisy and Gatsby were reunited once
