The story is told from a third person limited perspective, which means the narrator is not a character in the story, but isn’t omniscient. The story alternates from the perspective of the girlfriend and the boyfriend. This gives the readers more insight as to what each of them is thinking. There is also irony in the story. A game is supposed to be fun, but in this case the “game” causes significant distress and damage to their relationship, which is the opposite of what a game is suppose to be like. In the story a long road was mentioned, it is a metaphor for one’s direction or path in life. It was stated that his private life was never a secret, like the road he traversed he was visible to everyone. He somehow wanted to change this, so when he arrives at the crossroad he suddenly changes routes, different from what where he was planning to go. The guy is twenty-eight years old and drives a sports car. He also thinks that he’s somewhat old and knows everything about women. The girl on the other hand is twenty-two years old, shy, and insecure about her own body. The girl get extremely jealous of other women especially since she knows that the guy had a lot of casual sexual relationships with women who were more attractive, and seductive than she is. It’s very clear in the story that the guys cares for the girl and loves her for who she is, especially her pureness, naivety, and lightheartedness.
