Before being convicted of a double murder, Orenthal James Simpson was one of the best running backs in NFL history. He went from being a famous football player to a suspect for an infamous murder. On June 12, 1994 when Nicole Brown Simpson, O.J. Simpson’s ex-wife, and her friend Ronald Goldman were brutally stabbed to death. Suspiciously, O.J Simpson left Los Angeles to go to Chicago almost two hours after the incident. The day after, the Los Angeles Police Department questioned O.J. Simpson. They asked him about a cut he had on his right hand. At first, Simpson stated that he was unaware of the cause. Later in the interview, he stated that he probably cut his hand reaching into his Bronco, and he made the cut deeper when he found out the news about Nicole by breaking glass. Shortly after this interrogation, police were able to accumulate enough evidence to prove Simpson’s guilt; therefore, they obtained a warrant for his arrest. The LAPD and Robert Shapiro, Simpson’s attorney, made an agreement for Simpson to turn himself into police on the morning of June 17. When Simpson did not comply with this agreement, police officers went to go arrest him at his Brentwood home. Once they arrived, Simpson was gone, leaving a suicide note behind. His fame and the majority-black jury gave him an unfair advantage. He was a free murderer and no justice was served for the victims or their heart-broken families. However, if they used mostly white people, they would have automatically assumed that he was guilty since racism is a real issue in the United States of America. This was an unfair trial, not only for the victims but also for O.J. Simpson. Many racists were involved in the trial, and even though Simpson is a murderer, it is wrong to hate someone because of their skin
