Allen Ginsberg was a very influential poet who had some resentment and political issues built up towards the American way of life and Government. He uses his poetry to be heard as he criticizes the war, the big Government of America and the economical infrastructure of the United States. He begins by asking when the war will end, reflecting on the many years of fighting that had occurred. He obviously has distaste and major disagreement for Americas war strategy, stating “f**k the atom bomb.” In this same paragraph, he stated he will not write this poem until he is in his own mind, meaning he will write when he is ready and America cannot use its powers to force him otherwise. The next paragraph really focused on economics and the American way of life. He became very facetious here stating, “America after all it is you and I who are perfect not the next world.” He is trying to say America envisions itself as a super power that belongs in everyone’s business, however America needs …show more content…

He states his obsession with the magazine, confirming the effectiveness of their propaganda techniques. He then refers to Asia to express his disinterest in the Vietnam War which ensued a year after this poem. Turning back to America, he likes to use some popular but unfortunate American incidents that exemplify his point of view. He references Tom Mooney, who was wrongfully imprisoned for a pipe bomb that killed many at a San Francisco protest. He also uses Sacco and Vinzetti, who were tried and sentenced to death for their anarchist view of the Government. I believe he used these particular cases to validate the hypocrisy in American Government in how they believe they are a super power here to save the world and set everyone free and live free! (As long as you follow the rules and stay within the established guidelines for what is considered socially
