The purpose of Elie Wiesel clearly stated in the novel called “The Night” is to aware people of this event that occurred toward Jews so they won’t create the same mistakes and ignore something that was so cruel. Elie Wiesel’s purpose is to aware people of what happened to Jews because many Jew’s refused to believe what they were being told about the Nazis which then resulted in a tragedy because of their ignorance. The author Elie Wiesel clearly states, “Day after day, night after night, he went from one Jewish house to the next, telling his story and that of Malka, the young girl who lay dying for three days, and that of Tobie, the tailor who begged to die before his sons were killed” (7). In other words, this shows that when people hear things that are to unrealistic to be true they infer its false and they don’t try to confirm if it’s accurate or false. This is because sometimes people just don’t want to believe that something so cruel or abstract can’t occur. In the book “The Night” Elie Wiesel coveys, “The people were saying, “The Red Army is advancing with giant strides . . . Hitler will not able to harm us, even if he wanted to . . .” Yes, we even doubted his resolve to exterminate us. Annihilate an entire people? Wipe out a population dispersed throughout so many nations? So many millions of people! By what means? In the middle of the twentieth century!” (8). This reveals that when people hear something that doesn’t seem correct to be true they assume it’s incorrect because they don’t believe that humans are so cruel to do something towards others that will harm them and create no good for everyone. This also reveals that some people are so ignorant that they don’t want to even think or believe that humans can hurt other humans and do harm to their own human
