Back in 1945, after World War 2 ended, there was threats of nuclear war all over the world. Why you ask, because Soviet Russia thought communism was the superior over every other governmental way, and they wanted everyone to be just like them. The Cold War started in 1945 and ended in 1991 with many events between those two dates. With the United States helping West Berlin by sending supplies. To helping South Korea fight a war with the North. Then containing Cuba from bring nuclear war on the world.
West Berlin was in hard time in 1948 because the soviets blockaded shipmentas. While the other half of Germany was recovering from the war, and was under communistic rule by the Russians. With the U.S trying to keep their word in the Truman doctrine by helping the free people of Berlin they send supplies by air. The Soviets wanted to keep capitalism out of Berlin while they were there that why they blockaded the city. France, United States and Britain all seent supplies. Plus it contained the other half of Germany from invading the western half. …show more content…

Soviet Union was backing North Korea while, the United States was with South Korea. Joseph Stalin was the leader that gave the north the approval to invade the lower half of the peninsula. In November 25, 1950 South Korea had the upper hand and pushed the north all the way to the Yalu River by China. After the north lost the upper hand chinese troops were sent to the the communist half of korea. That led to the stalemate of the war pushing the south back to the 38th parallel. This kept South Korea a democratic government not letting communism
