The socialist movement was a reaction against the industrialization and urbanization, that tried to change the ways of the society. The socialist movement tried to change everyone's view on society, they wanted everyone to be equal. The socialists believed in some of the ideas from liberalism and were horrified by the effects of the Industrial Revolution. The socialists believed in the first ideology of the liberals was the idea everyone should be free and equal, there should be a democracy and individual freedom, and that the government should stay out of their lives.
