When I Choose A Football Club (Deca)

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been a risk taker. Where others seek to find the way out of things I seek to find the thrill and adventure in them. For instance, freshman year of high school I decided to join the football team. I played the whole year as a defensive tackle, but as freshman year drew to an end, I would soon be debating whether or not to continue on with football my sophomore year. It was not until that summer that I began evaluating what else I could do instead football. This is when I found a club called DECA.

Yes, that’s right, I chose DECA over football. The reason I chose DECA was because I knew that I could have taken the easy way to a college education with an athletic scholarship or more importantly, that I could take the risk by using my intelligence to pursue my dream school. So, I sided with my intelligence and left football. After all, everybody knows that “knowledge is power.” At first my choice did not seem to intrigue my coaches too well, but after I sat down and explained to them what I was doing, they seemed to comprehend why I chose DECA over a sport. To be honest, I wish I would have joined my freshman year. Even though I joined later, I still managed to be successful and have fun. I have won countless medals and awards. I’ve made it to District, State, and even to the main event at Nationals. That was all in two years and now that I’m on my last year of highschool, I plan to win it all this time. This club did not only teach me real scenarios but it also taught me real life
