Additionally, students will go to school for about nine to ten months in order to equal one school year.

Many arguments about changing the school calendar are for year round school. Readers are only gaining knowledge on the one sided benefits of the year round schedule. The year round calendar consists of school days throughout the whole year. Normally, the year round schedule goes forty-five days to school then fifteen days on vacation. Year-round schooling can cause students to become more stressed out versus traditional schooling. As we have seen the different pros and cons, I would like to firmly state that public year-round schooling shouldn’t be implemented in our education system. I do not believe in it for our current generation or any future ones. Many students do not need the strict structure of year-round schooling, as they are becoming increasingly smarter. Year-round schooling, like many other ideas, has its pros and cons but can be steadily confirmed as ineffective.
Things such as “family vacations, childcare, and routine living would be disrupted by year-round education programs” (1). Year-round school systems would take up most of the year in general. Due to year-round schedules interfering with family trips/vacations in the summer, “parent are concerned that their families would not have enough time to take vacations without a long summer break” (Chen 5). Some families do need a longer summer break to prepare and save money for vacation; families need a vacation to relax and unwind. By transferring to a year-round schedule, family vacations would be disrupted by the different tracks of the schedule.
Year round school should not be used in today’s school, because it threatens family plans, teacher and student burnouts, and may become costly. A child’s development is based on different experiences that sometimes can only be experienced through family time and not sitting in a classroom. Many families plan vacations during the summer. Some even sending children to camps that may give them another experience that school doesn’t offer. Some children come from separated families where summer vacation may allow a child to spend time with another

The traditional school calendar, which gives students three months of relaxation and no education, is having negative effects as the years go on. Year-round school, 45 days of learning followed by 15 days off, would provide students a less stressful year and other benefits as well. There are currently 3,253 year-round schools in the United States such as, Beecher Community and Flint High School. California currently has 130 year-round schools making it the leader in America (“Year-Round School Education Statistics”).

Finally, another drawback is that without summer break, there will be a financial toll. In a newspaper article titled “Year Round Schooling Explained”, it says, “Tourism and other industries that count on summer vacationers might suffer. High schoolers might be less able to get summer jobs.” This could end up causing a big financial problem for a lot of people. To conclude, the benefits and drawbacks of year-round schooling are about equal.
Year-round school usually has 45 days of school and then a 15 day break. But there is no summer break like traditional school. This leaves teachers with a little over two weeks to prepare for next school year. If teachers have to change their decorations or update their curriculum, they have barely enough or not enough time to prepare for a new year. This would put teachers in a hard situation and would not give them time to be with their family.
Summer break gives kids and teachers a break and time to prepare for next year. All year school schedules can be complicated for families and school activities. I chose the side of summer vacation. Summer vacation is a better way to go than an all year school schedule. It is what all kids will remember for years to last.
Year Round School Do I agree or disagree with the idea of year round school? Well, year round school is the practice of having students attend school without a traditional summer vacation. Year round school is usually a schedule that lasts from six to eight weeks in a row followed by a two to four week break. Instruction time is still one hundred and eighty days out of the year. I disagree with year round school because I suppose it negatively affects students, parents, and teachers in many ways.
Four Day Week Most children all around the world can all agree on one thing, school is awful. Around one-hundred of the country’s, fifteen-thousand school districts currently use the four day school week. Schools should all convert to four day weeks for the following reasons.
