Akhenaten, previously known as Amenhotep IV, was one of the most controversial Pharaohs to rule Egypt. As pharaoh, Akhenaten changed the polytheistic religion of Egypt to a monotheistic religion devoted to the Aten, which was depicted as a sun disk. The Egyptians despised this radical idea, but were forced to change their religion, art and their overall way of life. His reign began at around 1353 BC in the 18th Dynasty, following the death of his father Amenhotep III, and lasted until 1336 BC. His father’s reign was peaceful and prosperous, leaving Akhenaten with an Egypt of immense power and wealth.

Osiris was an extraordinary god who had many characteristics that made him unique. Many theories exist on how he was killed then resurrected to become the god of the underworld, and how he came to be so widely worshiped. Osiris had a very prominent role on how Egyptians would view their religious afterlife. He is the last keeper to the gates of Heaven.
The Egyptians believed that long ago the god of the sun, Atum, created Shu and Tefnut. They then created Geb, (the earthen god) and Nut (the sky goddess). They then had four children named Osiris, Isis, Set, and Nepthys. Set was married to Nepthys, and Osiris was married to Isis. Since inter-family marriage was ok back then these marriages were approved.
The most significant pharaohs from the new kingdom were Ramses II, King tut, and Hatshepsut. Ramses II was a great ruler. Since he was so significant, they had a festival were the people turned him into a god. Since he had such a big religious significance, they had so much more respect for him. He did do much good for Egypt but he is known for the more controversial acts he did than the good. Horemheb was the last Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty. He was not from Amenhotep’s family and was known for his reversal of religious ideas of those who came before him, such as Amenhotep and
With the removal of the Hyksos, Thebes became the most prominent city in all of Egypt. With this came Thebes as Egypt's main cultural center and the rise of Amon as the central deity during the New Kingdom of Egypt. The popularity of this deity rose sharply, and eventually was merged with the sun god of Heliopolis, Ra or Re, to form Amon-Re, the creator deity and ultimate advisor of the pharaohs (Wikipedia.) Amon-Re affected Egypt as well as the rest of the world by unifying Egypt, influencing pharaohs that ruled under his name, and his influence on other cultures. Amon was primarily worshipped in Thebes and surrounding areas only.
The Egyptians did not have a strong barrier between the normal people and the divine, and the pharaoh was identified as three different deities. The “son-god” Re, the “falcon-headed” Horus, and the pharaoh of the underworld “Osiris,” were his forms at birth, succession, and death. The land and everything within the land of Egypt belonged to the Pharaoh. The Egyptians lived along the Nile River and were polytheistic. After the year 1800 BC, they believed that the souls of the dead were to be judged by the rule of the underworld, Osiris.
They were Polytheistic, meaning that they believed in more than one god, such as Heka (The God of Magic) and Amon-Re (the Sun God). The pharaoh, or king, was also considered a god. The gods were believed to be happy, and their afterlife was seen as a so called “happy field of food”, which was looked forward to and prepared for as early as possible. This was due to the fact that the Nile River flooded regularly and was not very destructive.
Gods and Goddesses – There were an incredible number of Egyptian Gods and Goddesses, one for almost every situation. In ancient times, it was believed that these almighty Gods and Goddesses took different roles in the creation of the earth. These Deities were represented as people wearing head masks of animals.
The argument of gentrification has been steadily rising in if it's good or bad. Everyone argues that rich white people push out middle to poor class blacks from their homes.
