Thus, the cartoon exemplifies John D. Rockefeller’s prominent involvement and control of the government, conveying a plutocracy- form of government governs by the wealthy. Rockefeller’s colossal size
On both sides bombings and strikes were made on centers of production, transportation routes, and other facilities causing a great deal of harm to the civilian population. By the end of the war over 50,000,000 civilians had become casualties of war. The destruction
However, there were several long term problems such as movement between towns and refugees from the offense. Transportation became much more difficult due to the attacks on roads and bridges. Along with these, houses and buildings had been damaged with an estimated number of 460,000 people left as refugees (Directorate of Intelligence). Which forced the government to use the advantage of still having a strong economy to help deliver food, supplies, and housing to the people in these devastated cities. America, though not having its territory directly involved, was largely impacted by this.
The political cartoon of Boss Tweed by Thomas Nast is the one I picked. The cartoon, titled "Boss Tweed Caricature," was created largely to draw attention to Boss Tweed's unlawful meddling in the political system. With the authority he was given, Boss Tweed broke several rules, stole a lot of money from the public, gave people jobs they didn't deserve, and hired people with the intention of gaining him more support. Boss Tweed was the subject of several cartoons by Thomas Nast, but this one in particular was meant to draw attention to how much control he had over the political system and how he was abusing it to manipulate the elections. I think Thomas Nast had a valid point when he said that he was acting selfishly and not for the proper reasons

During the seize the townspeople had to hide and pray that the fighting would end. The townspeople had to also take care of the men that had deserted. The men came back to find that they could not do much, because all their plants were ruined.
The cartoon depicts the Prime Minister pouring tea, indicative of the Tea Act, down the throat of an American Indian woman, who represents America. She is also being held down by a judge, who represents the British court system, which did not serve true justice to the colonists in terms of protecting their liberties.
The cartoon is implying that national defense is not the way to go about things if war is imminent, instead the US should take action while they can against the Axis Powers in Europe. The Cartoon is titled “Pattern for Disaster” which means if the US continues to follow these isolationist ideals things will only end badly
They fought the war to gain control of the country’s diamond investment. While the Government fought the war to defend the country, as well as to stop the petulant outbreaks and chaos the rebels were causing throughout the land. Many people were inflicted by this war. Families were destroyed, child were forced to join the army for protection and starvation. No one was safe, everything was changing so quickly.
It was titled, “To the Victors Belong the Spoils.” It was a phrase that was used to explain why people who were elected were entitled to hand out government jobs to their followers. Thomas Nast drew the cartoon in 1877, after Jackson’s presidency. In 1877, Nast was battling politicians in New York and while he was there, they proved his belief. That the patronage, “To the Victors Belong the Spoils,” really was corrupted.
In a political cartoon on the Robber Baron’s document, it illustrates how the monopolists was controlling the government and the senators. This is ironic because it is indicating how money is everything, and it illustrates how corrupted the government was to let the monopolists obtain an that much power. The power of the industrial leaders, just indicates how depraved America was to let industrialists manipulate the power of politics with their abundant amount of money they had. The political atmosphere was obviously corrupted, and because of that it illustrated how America was greatly influenced by
The Cartoon represents the formation of trusts during the Gilded Age. Trusts were the result of strong capitalist competition in the era, as corporations wanted to dominate an industry. In a trust, a smaller businesses would leave their stocks to the boards of larger corporations, merging them with the more powerful group, resulting in the trust having enormous power over an industry. The formation of suge giant and powerful trusts was possible in part because of the interpretation by courts of the Fourteenth amendment.
They were in a bad condition. The South didn't have the power and resources necessary to recover. Which is why the Reconstruction was necessary,
The refusal of the government to support the people prolonged the disaster, making it last six years but the country only recovered until the late 1940s and the economy slowly recovered with the help of migrants from all over the
During the 1860’s, there was tremendous tension between immigrants and Americans in the United States. To portray this “tension”, a political cartoon that was drawn by an unknown cartoonist to depict that America’s culture was in danger. This political cartoon is called “The Great Fear of the Period That Uncle Sam May be Swallowed by Foreigners: The Problem Solved” and was published in San Francisco, California by White & Bauer. The central goal for publishing this cartoon was to bring fear among the Americans, and therefore blame the immigrants.
