Athena is a normal girl from Earth until she got a letter from Zeus. On the letter it said that she was accepted into Mount Olympus Academy ,also the letter says that she is a goddess and the daughter of Zeus her dad. When Athena got there, she looks around at the massive building with a lot of fountains, flowers, and more marvelous items, afterwards walks into the office and sign up for every single class that was on the list. Then went to all the classes she signed up for, afterwards that night she went to her new room, she meets her roommate and the people around her.
I my opinion I think that the Goddesses Athena gives the best advice to Telemachus for finding his lost father who was out at sea while he was on his voyage home. She goes in disguise from Mount Olympus and tells Odysseus son the pivotal news in this story that his father may be alive. She keeps on telling him news that him develop a mindset that is father is alive; therefore, he gains hope and is eager to find him at sea. Since Athena was able to change the pace of Telemachus hope for finding his father, and since it set the poor for the rest of the book. For this, Athena the Goddess of wisdom gives the most helpful advice.
Thus, meaning that they are not like the sirens or the Amazons who seduce men or live for battle and war. But these goddesses were born from Zeus and practically born into the throne and the role they were given. The Goddesses mainly stood for the fertility of women and the sign of life. “Considering their limited role in actual society, there is a surprisingly strong cast of female characters in Greek religion and mythology. Athena, the goddess of wisdom and patron of Athens stands out as a powerful figure blessed with intelligence, courage and honour.
She is portrayed as the average Greek woman, but in reality is very cunning. Though both these women are two different characters, their roles are similar, and they both are equally powerful. They are cunning; teach Xenia; develop Odysseus’ character; and an important role in their families. Athena is the cunning Goddess who guides Odysseus back to Ithaca for his family and countrymen without letting him know her reality – she disguises herself every now and then to help him by testing him and his knowledge.
Athena is a major character throughout the book of The Odyssey and is known as the goddess of wisdom and battle. Throughout the course of the book, it is evident that Athena has a weak spot for the main character, Odysseus. Odysseus is trying to return home after the Trojan War, as the other Greek hero’s have already done, however he faces multiple challenges a long the way. Fortunately, for Odysseus, Athena was there to guide him through a few of these troubling situations.
Without the female characters in The Odyssey, there would be no story. Because women like Athena play such an important role in developing the book. The Odyssey by Homer, written in the 8th century and speaks about the main character Odysseus; a veteran of the Trojan war. He begins on a long journey where he meets many other characters who help him with his overall goal of returning to Ithica after 18 years. Women play a very momentous role in the journey of Odysseus throughout The Odyssey.

Also, Athena is worshiped by most mortal men and women demonstrating that she is an influential figure in ancient Greek society. Homer narrates that, ¨Athena disguises Odysseus as a beggar and directs him to the hut of Eumaeus.¨ She plans with Odysseus and Telemachus, helping them to get revenge on the suitors. Athena had a huge amount of power, and the strength of her character helped Odysseus throughout his journey.
In The Odyssey, by Homer, Athena influences the lives of Odysseus and his family. In Greek mythology, gods challenge and control mortals. Gods also provide support to mortals and thus, mortals depend and act on behalf of the gods and their decisions. Athena, daughter of Zeus, is the goddess of wisdom, and both Telemachus and Odysseus benefit from her power. Athena possesses the ability to disguise herself and others, and this skill allows her to give advice and guidance.
I chose this passage because it shows the power and strength that Athena possessed from the moment this book began. Homer was making sure it was clear that women, especially Athena, had huge roles in this story. Athena is described as “seizing” the staff and “storming against” she is not described as gentle or quiet. She is given strong adjectives to describe her actions. At this point in the story, the gods are trying to figure out what to do with Odysseus and Athena is willing to step in and intercede for him.
Athena, goddess of wisdom and war, knew exactly how to manipulate a situation in order to get what she wanted. For example, in the very beginning of the epic poem, Athena goes to her father Zeus to get some help. She wants Odysseus to be released from Calypso’s grasp, but needs some help in making this happen. In order to get her father to agree with her, she appeals to his ego. It is well known that Zeus thinks of himself in the highest manner possible.
Athena uses her role as the puppeteer to allow the entire epic to slowly unfold. Without Athena there would be no epic about Odysseus returning home from the brutal Trojan War for the reader to enjoy and the term “odyssey” would not be used to describe a long journey. Athena is the key to the entire story; consequently The Odyssey is her story. The Odyssey is Athena’s story because she plays the role of the puppeteer that causes the events to take place.

Athena is known as the goddess of war. Odysseus was aided by her ideas on how to regain power through her tactical skills. The fact that the goddess warrior was on his side through the journey home, reclaiming his land, and killing the suitors was a huge advantage. Athena is very intelligent in how she strategizes and won wars in the past. Some may argue that Odysseus is the real hero but there were many times throughout The Odyssey where he needed Athena’s protection and input of logical ideas.
