Many characters have hidden traits that slowly come out over time which express their true traits. In the novel “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald Daisy is a young woman who is married to Tom Buchanan and has a daughter with him but finds herself in a love triangle with Gatsby. In the beginning of the story Daisy is portrayed as an loving caring upper class woman who has everyone doing stuff for her but she is very kind and sweet, over time as the love triangle develops the truth about her personality comes out and is exposed. Daisy’s true self wasn’t seen until conflict hit which was too late. The first meaning of the color white is the perfect, elegant, angle lifestyle which is shown in the beginning of the novel. Daisy is a very charming person who is very elegant and pure within her life, even angel- like . Many times we see her wearing white clothing, having white powered skin, and even white flowers being her favorite. This leads to the conclusion that she is a perfect innocent person who does no wrong, this is truly false. Daisy put out this perfect persona so everyone would love her but there’s many dark things that she is hiding that contradict this. She is very two faced and strategic with what she shared. The other meaning of the color white is the emptiness, alone, unfilled, no morals, and boring. This is the other side of daisy that we slowly start to see as the novel goes on. For example Daisy's husband is cheating on her and she doesn’t do anything about it, rather she waits till later in the story and she hits her with Gatsby's car and kills her. Daisy acts like she loves her husband but she truly just married him for his money. Eventually Daisy fesses up to marrying Tom for his wealth because Gatsby was in the service and fighting for the country which portrayed him to be poor and she couldn’t wait for him anymore so she married Tom. This tells us a lot about her because she married Tom because she knew he had money and would be able to take care of her. When Daisy goes over to meet gatsby one day and sees his shirts she breaks down crying, this is only because she realizes he also has money and she made a mistake. She made a mistake because she actually had feelings for Gatsby but she didn’t marry him because she thought he was broke. All together she faked her love and lied to these men and deceived them of her true love and feeling which is wrong because she just did this because she wanted to marry the men with the most money. This deception added to the story because this was the beginning of the love triangle which created many issues for everyone
