The play Macbeth is about a loyal warrior who was driven by fate after the witches told him he shall be destined to be king. Obviously Macbeth is driven by fate. The three main reasons Macbeth is driven by fate is by the witches, his wife, and he is driven by himself. The purpose of this essay is to examine that Macbeth is driven by fate and the witches help put in his mind that he will become king.

In the beginning of the play Macbeth, he sees the three witches during a battle. The witches tell him that he needs to kill the Thane of Cawdor. They tell him he is destined to be king. “All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!” That is when he believes that it is fate to become king. These witches put a vision in his mind that he will become king. He becomes obsessed with the thought of absolute power. He believes that he must become king and that is why he kills Duncan, Banquo, and tries to kill malcolm.

Duncan is the king of Scotland and MacBeth has to kill him to become king. His wife pushes him to kill Duncan so much that he ends up killing him. “If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me without my stir.” This shows fate because he is saying that if he kills he will become king.This is fate because the witches tell him that he is destined to become king and to become king he has to kill Duncan. The bad thing about killing Duncan is that he is going against the king and going against the king is like going against god. Also he is going against family because Duncan is his cousin. This shows that Macbeth is driven by fate because he does what the witches tell will happen and he believes that the prophecy is
