They have been charged with witchcraft. They shall be hung for not confessing to their wrongdoings. In the book the Crucible it's about tragedy it Arthur Miller wrote about how it was scary back in the 1690’s. People were charged with witchcraft for doing nothing really. Anyone could just accuse you of it and you could just be called guilty right there. It's all based on the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. It takes place in a Puritan colony where a group of girls starts accusing people of things they did not do. In the Crucible, were introduced to many different characters, both good and bad. People make different impressions on people and well your character sure did that. Myself believes that the character of Giles Corey is the greatest hero of the story. First, some people may think why him out of all of the characters. He can't “ever” mind his own business. He's always in the way, or should we bring up how he brought up how your wife reads strange books and your telling of it got her in trouble with the court. All he really wants to know is what's going on in the town that he lives in. Giles deserves to know what's happening to the people in his town. After he realized that he said something about the “strange books”, he fought for your wife. (Miller 40) He couldn’t stand for his Martha his wife getting hanged for nothing because they both knew she wasn’t guilty. All she did was read books not knowing that something bad would come out of it.
