The Last of the Mohicans is written by James Fenimore Cooper, a famous Americans novelist during 1800’s. The setting of the book takes place during the French and Indian War or the Seven’s Years War which happened in 1754 to 1763. This war was comprised of the French and its Native Americans allies like the Algonquin’s and the British with their Native Americans allies such as the Iroquois Confederacy. The French and Indian War was fought in North America, involving the 13 colonies, who gained an abundant amount of profit from supplying not only the British with weapons but the French as well. The victor of the war was the British but the lives lost from the Native Americans allies were much higher than that of the Europeans. When the party meets with Hawkeye, and his two companions Chingachgook and Uncas, the last Indians of the Mohcian tribe. This is when Magua is revealed a traitor as Hawkeye explains to them that their guide is leading them in the wrong of direction of Fort William Henry, where Colonel Munro is stationed at. With their new guides, the party goes to Fort William Henry without some running into Magua and the Huron’s. Few days later upon reaching the fort, Colonel Munro is forced to surrender to the French when no reinforcement is coming.
