In addition to the falsehood of Sugarcandy Mountain fabricated by Moses, another prime falsification that is evident in Animal Farm revolves around Snowball, one of the main characters who is intelligent, passionate and less deviant than his counterpart, Napoleon. Even though Snowball is the less malevolent compared to Napoleon, all the animals on the farm believe the opposite, due to the false information that Napoleon inputs into the minds of the animals. The reason why Napoleon creates an evil persona of Snowball is because he sees him as a threat and wants to deteriorate his superiority which will allow him to be the only absolute leader of Animal Farm. This is evident in the following quote, “He was running as only a pig can run, but the dogs were close on his heels. Suddenly he slipped and it seemed certain that they had him […] Then he put on an extra spurt and, with a few inches to spare, slipped through a hole in the hedge and was seen no more”(Orwell,30). The reason why Snowball was chased away was because Napoleon did not “agree” with Snowball’s idea about the windmill. Many believe that the reason why Napoleon made Snowball flee is that he probably liked the idea that was proposed by Snowball since both characters never agree with one another. However, as days flew by he decides to initiate the windmill. Napoleon tells Squealer to explain to the animals that the windmill was his idea and that the plans for it were stolen by Snowball. This evident when he says, “it was he [Napoleon] who advocated it in the beginning and the plan which Snowball had drawn on the floor of the incubator shed had actually been stolen from among Napoleon’s papers” (Orwell 39). Napoleon orders Squealer to say this, as it will fracture Snowball’s image making him look like an unrespectable
