“There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people, so when we need them, they could fight the battles that we never could.” (Lee). Stanley Lieber was one of those remarkable people that created a line of hero comics that has been transformed from written text to the Big Screen.
When Stanley was only six the great depression begun putting many struggles on his family. They struggled to make ends meet (Edgers 7). As a child, his mother always encouraged him to read (Edgers 7). Stanley would lose himself in the Hardy Boys series and books written by H. G. Wells, Mark Twain and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In school he struggled a lot, not just with grades but also with making friends (Edgers 3). He was always encouraged by family and teachers to follow his passion. He loved to read, write and draw (Edgers 5).
Stanley Lieber, also known as Stan Lee, is famous all over the world for his wonderful illustrations, writings and as the creator of the Marvel Comics. For most of us, his superheroes have become part of our childhood. Whether reading them in comics or watching them on the Big Screen, we can’t seem to get enough. I think Stan Lee says it best. In one of his quotes, Stan Lee states, “I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it they might go off the deep end.
