The Story of Grendel
Have you ever wondered what goes on inside the mind of a killer? There’s a saying “There’s two sides to every story,” but no one ever even considers listening to the “bad guys” perspective on things. For some reason, I’ve always wanted to dig inside a psychopath’s brain and be able to understand why they do the things they do, and I’m going to do just that. I’ve always liked the epic poem Beowulf; I find Grendel, one of the main antagonists from Beowulf interesting. There isn’t much of a physical description, but he’s described as a lonely monster who lives in a dark cave with his mother and has a strong hate for humans. Now let’s dissect the brain of a killer as I tell you the story of Grendel.
Today was just like any other day. Stuck in a cave and I don’t know why. Dazed and confused as the people above mock me with their singing. I hate humans. I hate everything about them. Their stupid faces, their stupid hair, their self-love, and most of all their horrendous voices. They say I’m the monster, but it is the humans who are the monsters. Finally, after hours it was silent. I decided to go up and see what’s going on. As I arrived I notice they’re all sleeping. I start to remember how much I hate humans. As the anger begins to build up inside me, I felt myself losing control. I started snatching up people; young, old, man or woman, it didn’t matter to me. I took them back to my cave and I ate them. I counted 30 skeletons and I realized I just committed a crime. I murdered 30 people and I’ve never felt so good.
