While the child was feeling down; instead of picking her son up, the mother scolds her child “[reminding] him, once again, not to shout out in public. The father’s emotional “screams” also emphasize his fear of disappointing the son he loves so much (17). The poem really expresses how one mother values her son, and tells you how kids grow up to fast and she believes that her little boy cannot handle the challenges life throws at you. At the end of poem, the mom is surprised that her son learns to get out of the chains and get past the challenges he has been through. Families will always have a strong bond and it can never be broken, no matter what life throws at your family, you will always get though it and find new ways to make your relationship even stronger. Later in life as the kids get older, they learn that their mom will not always be there for you, so they start to get close with their mom and they realize all the wonderful things your mom did for you.
In To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, figuring out the true protagonist is can be difficult because there are so many characters that could be the protagonist. Some people might say that Scout is the protagonist because she is the narrator and also the main character, but that does not make her the protagonist. The next thing that someone might say is that Jem is the protagonist because he changes so much, and he becomes more responsible, choosing to do the right thing more often than not. In reality, the true protagonist is Atticus, and this is because he is the one who tries to pass his values of right and wrong on to Jem and Scout. Atticus always does what is right, regardless of what other people think.
