Walmart, like most big businesses strives to keep cost down both for itself and its customers. Walmart however is especially dangerous toward the American economy and American workers. Walmart pays minimum wage and gives workers no benefits, it outsources to China and gets rid of american factory and manufacturing jobs.Some say all of this is the cost of helping the consumer get cheaper products however the costs may not be worth the benefits. Walmart is known for its cheap prices however it also has another reputation. Walmart is known for treating its employees poorly. Employees of Walmart get paid minimum wage, have no benefits and are easily dropped by the corporation if it sees fit. On the flip side the Waltons are some of the richest people in America and the shareholders are not too far behind. At Walmart's shareholder conventions the scene nearly looks like a party with shareholders from around the world chanting Walmart. They take on an erie feel, almost as if they were all brainwashed into thinking they are doing good in the world by holding on to Walmart stocks. …show more content…

Many large corporations are looking towards other countries for the solution to cheap manufacturing. This cheap way out hurts American businesses and creates a trade deficit. In the case Five River Electronics vs China the issue of Chinese dumping high end electronics at too cheap prices into American markets was addressed. Five Rivers could not compete with the prices China was selling their products and Walmart who was backing and selling the Chinese products. Five Rivers won the case and Chinese import prices rose however Chinese competition was still high and eventually other companies closed because of
