In the first place Woolf was trying to show that if Shakespeare was a woman, he would not have the opportunities to become successful. Because women were limited, and they were not allowed the same chance as men. I can imagine how hard it was for women by not having the freedom to express themselves and better their lives by going to school. Being a house worker, obey rules of their family, and practice the typical women job was tough despite their will to do better. How can parents accept to limit their own kids in the society only because of their gender?
