This is a terrible leadership quality. A third reason why Ralph’s style of leadership is better is that Ralph knew what was best for the boys overall. He was always looking for the boys best interest and had good intent, while Jack’s dictatorship consisted of Jack thriving off of the power making only himself feel good and trying to make that last. In the novel Lord of the Flies, there are various types of leaderships evident. Ralph and Jack, both showed a great sense of leadership on the island and towards
In the Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a group of British boys are stranded on an uninhabited island and try to govern themselves. The leader of the group is Ralph, the main representative of order, civilization, and productive leadership. Ralph exhibits the traits of an excellent leader throughout the novel by being kind, responsible, and determined. Because of the aforementioned traits, the boys feel safe and even hopeful about being rescued.
However, there are many obstacles in his way that will make his goal a lot harder than it should have been. Ralph is an excellent leader, during his journey to get off of the island, he is a commander of a tribe and is always trying to give hope to the other boys, that it is possible to get off of the island. Ralph was the
A leader to one may not be a leader to all, but a respected leader is recognized as the best. A group of boys stranded on an island starts the tale of Lord of Flies by William Golding leading to an adventurous tale. This takes place in World War II surrounding the life of young British Boys. The boys on the island vote to decide on a chief among themselves and Ralph comes out victorious. Although Ralph is not the oldest or strongest, the little ones follow him endlessly through the well-earned respect that shines in his leadership.
I believe that partially everyone was to blame for what happened on the island but most importantly I believe it was mainly Jack and Ralph. The reason why I think Ralph is to blame is because he kept the fire as one of the main priorities and wouldn’t really shut up about it and I think that if he did focus as much as he did on the fire with shelter, attaining food and water then they wouldn’t have divided. The other reason I believe Ralph is to blame is because he only enforced that someone would have to keep the fire in control and didn’t coerce the boys into making shelters. I think Ralph is to blame for what happened on the island because he was cocky and didn’t really want to listen to other boys. I think if he toned it down a little bit,
“Well, we won’t be painted,” said Ralph, “because we aren’t savages” (172). There are many great leaders all over the world. To be a great leader one must have certain qualities including, being courageous, being responsible, willing to take charge, having all priorities straight on the important things, have determination, and many more. In Lord of the Flies, Ralph shows all of these characteristics and a few more. Out of every boy on the island, Ralph would be the best choice as leader.
In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, Ralph demonstrates the most leadership of all the boys on the island because he understood the importance of rules, always kept the important things in mind, and was respected. The first body paragraph of my essay would address how Ralph is one of the only boys who acknowledges the importance of rules. I would use a quote from page 98 that shows Jack rejecting the rules. This shows that, unlike Ralph, Jack does not care for the rules. Next, I would mention Ralph’s ability to always keep his mind on what was important.
Even though the boys chose Ralph, Golding makes it clear that Jack was “the most obvious leader” (Golding 22). This shows that social status plays a huge role in leadership, but there are other qualities to consider when selecting a leader. Although Ralph and Jack were
In the book, Lord of the Flies, there are many characters that others could consider as leaders. However, Ralph would be the person I would follow because he has many leadership skills such as setting rules for others safety, caring for others, and last but not least, he is not power hungry. Ralph is a good leader because he sets the rules for everyone. In the book, Ralph decided that he was going to make rules for everyone to follow and so they don’t lose anyone.
Ralph mocked piggy for his specks and that made piggy feel like he was the “center of social derision” (176). That is one thing that would Ralph a bad leader because when the others would bully Piggy Ralph didn't stop them he even joined them. Most people would agree that Ralph was a bad leader because he was a jerk and a bully towards piggy and to the other boys throughout the novel. Piggy still stayed by Ralphs side, Piggy would end up being the only one who Ralph can trust at the end of the novel. Ralph became selfish and rude towards the other boys.
"Lord of The Flies" can be identified as a literature story. According to the author "Ralph stood, one hand against the trunk, and adressed them: "You're not acting like human beings. Next thing you know, you'll be eating each other" (Golding 38). The quote expresses how Ralph can identify how Jack and the other guys are acting and that shows he is more sane then the other boys on the island. By analyzing this message we learn that humans can turn evil by nature.
Although Jack expresses strong desire to become chief, the boys elect Ralph as a leader, suggesting an air of charisma that made him worthy of his position. He believes a leader has to “think, be wise… grab at a decision”, someone who can look after others and keep the group in
Best of the Boys to Lead In the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, leadership is needed for survival. Ralph, one of the older boys, posses certain qualities that make him the best suited to be leader. Ralph, unlike others, is able to make quick decisions and is smart enough to figure out what is needed, not only to live peacefully, but also to survive. The goal of most of the boys is salvation from the dreaded island; Ralph is the only boy who offers and sticks to a plan of action. Ralph exhibits great compromising skills which are needed to keep many boys, like Jack, from breaking rules and becoming wild.
Imagine a world without order. A world without leadership, no rationality whatsoever. Take Ralph's character away from the equation and William Golding's Lord of the Flies would be a factory manufacturing chaos. In the novel, an airplane shot down while carrying a group of British schoolboys, Ralph the protagonist elicits strong leadership when the boys improvise a mini-civilization. Golding validates the stereotypical archetype while portraying an everyday likable boy through his leadership, mentality, and expedient success.
Ralph genuinely cares about the well-being of the kids. Even though Piggy is fat and disregarded by many of the kids Ralph still lets him talk. Jack once again on cares about the meat and proving his superiority. When the beastie first appears in the story there were two different outcomes from the two characters. " He must have had a nightmare.
