Daisy was morally responsible for Gatsby's death because of her willingness to have an affair with him knowing she was married, and also for allowing Gatsby to take the blame for Myrtle's death. She also caused problems between tom and Gatsby. Daisy did not have morals and could be considered manipulative. Daisy should also have been held responsible for Gatsby's death even though George shot him to death. Daisy could have been honest and told everyone the truth that she ran over and killed Myrtle.
Daisy contributed to the death of Gatsby because she bases her love on a person's wealth. Nick knew that all Daisy cared was money and herself being taken care of. An example of her selfishness is when Daisy says “there such beautiful shirts”, she sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick folds. “It makes me sad because I’ve never seen such beautiful shirts before” F. Scott Fitzgerald page 92.
Even though other characters may have contributed, Gatsby is ultimately responsible for his own death because he wants to please Daisy, he is a liar, and he thinks he can repeat the past. The first reason Gatsby is responsible for his own death is because he did everything to please daisy. Gatsby bought his mansion and nice things to impress daisy. “He took out a pile of shirts and began throwing them one by one before us, shirts of sheer linen and thick silk and fine flannel which lost their folds as they fell and covered the table in many-colored disarray.”
Daisy is used to represent the innocence, beauty, and perfection that both Gatsby and nature want. Without Daisy, Gatsby cannot have the same love he had in his youth. Although, that love was transient. Since time
Daisy symbolizes wealth, sophistication, and status. Gatsby despises that he wasn't fortunate enough to be born into wealth and forges a illusion for a past to create his image to other people. This may lead to the title of the novel “The Great Gatsby”, the “Great” coming from his magician like illusion abilities. Gatsby is obsessed with chasing the past. His devotion to re-obtaining Daisy is extravagant.
In my opinion, Tom is most responsible for Gatsby’s death. I believe that Tom is most responsible because Tom forgot to tell George that Daisy was the driver of Gatsby’s car the night Myrtle was hit by it. Tom forgot to tell George that because him and Daisy were plotting this out. I could tell something was up when Nick refers that “Tom and Daisy talking in the house(146). I also think that Daisy is a little bit responsible because she took on some bad morals when she hit Myrtle because she could have stopped the car after she hit Myrtle.
Gatsby, who worked so hard to make himself worthy to Daisy and wanted her to love him so badly that he resorted to illegal bootlegging. Gatsby’s whole life revolved around Daisy, who didn’t love him enough in the end to stick with him and let him take the fall for her. His downfall was Daisy, whom he had devoted most of his life towards becoming worthy of her love and hand in marriage. His dedication towards her is evident time and time again. For example, he held the lavish parties in hopes of showing off his wealth to Daisy.
While everyone sees Daisy as a pure, and very genuine at heart, she has a deeper meaning to her. When she was younger she truly loved Gatsby but once she got
Because Daisy is a conceited, selfish, money-hungry character, she gave in. She has always loved Gatsby, but he was never rich enough for her. She could not wait any longer for him, so she married Tom for money. This gave Gatsby time, for he knew he could climb the social ladder, but it had to be alone. Within the 5 years without Daisy, Gatsby became involved with illegal drug business and became rich quickly.
In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Jay Gatsby was murdered by George Wilson Husband of Myrtle. In the court of law there’s only one person who was responsible and guilty for the murder of Jay Gatsby. Although in the eyes of god there was more than one person responsible for the murder or had the ability to stop the outcome of the murder. Weather it was Tom being honest about his affair, Daisy doing the right thing and stopping during the accident or Jay Gatsby himself by taking control of the situation and doing what was good for both Daisy and himself instead of just what 's best for Daisy. Tom, Myrtle, Daisy, and Gatsby were selfish and self centered leading them to become Morally responsible for the death of Jay Gatsby.
Who killed Gatsby is a very arguable topic, we know George Wilson shot Gatsby in his pool but who was responsible for the downfall of Jay Gatsby? Was it Tom Buchanan’s “supercilious manner” (Fitzgerald 7), George Wilson and Myrtle, or was it the time period in which this book took place? It could be a combination of all things but Daisy’s foolish behavior was the determining factor of Gatsby’s death. Gatsby and Daisy were lovers, she was married to an assertive and prejudicial man named Tom Buchanan who openly had affairs with many women..
The 1979 Iranian Revolution represented a resistance to westernization in efforts to restore Islamic principles. Iran during the 1970s was plagued by corruption, despotism, and repression. Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi faced massive resistance specifically by a coalition led by Muslim fundamentalists and Ayatollah Khomeini. Khomeini believed that “As for those who oppose us because of their opposition to Islam, we must cure them by means of guidance, if it is at all possible; otherwise, we will destroy these agents of foreign powers with the same fist that destroyed the Shah's regime.” Iran shifted from a pro-Western monarchy to an anti-Western theocracy.
She represented old money and the ideal of social mobility. Gatsby never wanted Daisy because he loved her, but because she was his door to becoming old money, to gaining the social backing, his proof of true social mobility. No matter how rich and extravagant Gatsby became, he would never truly achieve social mobility without Daisy showing that social mobility is a fraud. A fraud keeping people in this dreamlike state, waiting for that day when they are able to freely move through social class from one level to the next. A fraud so profound it could only be created by the American people; and realized by them, it keeps them alive fueling their fervent passion and helping them overcome monumental struggles later to be let down by the one thing that held them up ---The American
Daisy seemed really nice and pretty and was the goal of Gatsby to get, but turns out she's not as great and Gatsby imagined her being, represents the false sense of glory people see in the American Dream. This proved in chapter 5, page 93, "Compared to the great distance that had separated him from Daisy it had seemed very near to her, almost touching her. It had seemed as close as a star to the moon. Now it was again a green light on a dock. His count of enchanted objects had diminished by one.
