James Alleman Mrs. Stephens Sophomore English 1st 11/13/17 Macbeth Macbeth is mainly responsible for murdering King Duncan due to his actions and his ambition. The witches only planted a seed inside Macbeth’s head. Macbeth chose to nourish that seed, toying with the idea that he could become King. Lady Macbeth also contributed to the murder of King Duncan by challenging Macbeth’s Manhood. On the other hand, Macbeth could have turned his life around at any point throughout the play, but his ambition and stubbornness drove him forward. He stayed on his murderous path, which lead him straight to his destruction. Macbeth is known as a tragic hero, this means that he starts out as a noble and honorable hero. As the play drags on, Macbeth has a character flaw that will cause his destruction. Macbeth’s flaw is his ambition. His ambition is what drove him to commit all of these horrible crimes. The witches seemed to spark his ambition by putting the idea into Macbeth’s head that someday he would become King. Macbeth decides to take things into his own hands and murder the King. In Act 2 Scene 1 Lines 35-60, Macbeth is preparing himself to murder the King. He tries to force the blame on anyone else, even the bell that rings to signal him to proceed. Macbeth’s Best friend, Banquo, knows the intent of Macbeth’s heart and knows that he cheated to receive the crown. Macbeth begins to fear Banquo and not long after, has him executed.(Act 3 Scene 1 Lines 50-70) At that point Macbeth as well as his wife have almost completely lost their sanity. Macbeth soon loses his capacity to feel any sort of emotion. He keeps murdering and killing anyone and everyone who he believes to be a threat. Macbeth continues to nourish the seed that the witches
