In 1932, one of the biggest mysteries still today occurred. On March 1, 1932, Charles Lindbergh Jr. was kidnapped at the age of only twenty months old. Charles was taken from the second story of the family’s home. You would think someone would catch whoever did that, especially since it was on the second floor. Also, whoever did it left one big thing behind, a ladder. And not just any ladder, a homemade ladder. I think that the father had something to do with it because it could have been Bruno Hauptmann. He did get arrested for it but they are not sure that it was actually him as they look at more evidence, it looks like they are to an extent framing him for it. The reason being they found over $15,000 in ransom money in his house. They also found wood cut out of his attic that they thought could have been used for the ladder. When they went to see if the wood matched the wood on the ladder was thicker than the floor boards. Also, Hauptmann was a carpenter and they said the ladder was so poorly made that there was no way that it could have been him that made it. There are theories that it was an inside job because whoever did it would have known the layout of the house so that lead to believe that it was someone that worked in the house. Police questioned the housekeeper because she was acting suspicious and before her fourth hearing she ended up committing suicide. Which obviously made her look even guiltier but now they could not prove that it was her. I really do believe that it had to do with the father because he was super big in Social Darwinism and the doctor lead the police to believe that there was something wrong with the little boy. Mr. Lindbergh limited the people that knew about his son’s condition. This makes it sound like he could have hired someone to do it or he did it himself so that he wouldn’t have a child that had something wrong with
