Jordan Bratton made a Twitter post on April 13th that he was going to “kill tonight and shut up the critics once and for all.” The prosecution can use this evidence to show that Jordan Bratton had a motive for killing Preston Balmen and given the quantity and types of evidence, they can try to persuade jurors that the findings of the investigation were not coincidental. They must convince jurors beyond a reasonable doubt that Jordan Bratton was responsible
On October 3, 1974, at around 10:45 pm, Elton Hymon and Leslie Wright of the Memphis Police Department were responding to a “prowler on the inside” call. They made the scene and observed a woman in the house next to the intended home of the call. She was standing on her front porch pointing at the house. She advised that she had heard glass breaking and someone was breaking into the house next door. As Wright showed both officers on the scene on his radio to dispatch, Hymon went to the rear of the house.
Between the years 1979 and 1981, Wayne Williams is suspected to be the murderer of more than 20 youthful boys, although, he was only convicted of killing two adults both in Atlanta, Georgia. Even 30 years after his trail, there is still some debate and doubt, on whether or not he was Atlanta’s serial killer. After watching, Atlanta Child Murders, it’s believable Wayne Williams committed and caused the majority of these tragic deaths. By continuing to read, you will gather textual evidence as to why I believe Wayne William is guilty. To begin with, Eric Middlebrooks was the first victim to the Atlanta child murders.
Murder Case Against Adnan Syed In 1999, a murder case spiked the enthusiasm of the community of Baltimore, Maryland. Hae Min Lee was the victim of this unforgettable murder which brought together three main suspects: Adnan Syed, Jay Wilds, and Don; however, Don and Hae had only been together thirteen days prior to the murder. This rose suspicion in the case but for some reason was not analyzed as much as it should have been. Don did not have a solid alibi during that day, but he was thrown out the window.

“I thought Mr.Clutter was a very nice gentleman. I thought so right up to the moment I cut his throat," these are the exact words quotes by Perry Smith when confiding in his friend Truman Capote. These are not the words of a remorseful man. Perry Smith and Dick Hickock invaded the Clutter family home looking for fortune they heard the family had. Only finding way less than half of the amount they thought, this enraged Perry.
Emily Decius Sociology 361 Term Paper November 16, 2017 Of the many serial killers that have terrorized the nation throughout history, there are a few that stand out from the rest, one being Theodore Bundy. He became much more famous than others, and his story is rather interesting but has been constantly changed and promoted by the media. In total, it is estimated that Bundy murdered anywhere between 36 to 100+ victims, and there are still many bodies that have not been found (Sullivan, 2009). Bundy had always seemed to be a somewhat normal person through his younger years, and it seemed to most people like he would be successful in life (Sullivan, 2009). He excelled in school, attended college, and at one point even enrolled in law school (Sullivan, 2009).
Dennis Rader—self-proclaimed the “BTK Killer”—is a serial killer responsible for ten murders in Wichita, Kansas from 1974 to 1991. Rader’s childhood seemed normal, and he lived a relatively average life as an adult. He blended into his community as a government employee, church leader, and Boy Scout troop leader. This seemingly picturesque life allowed him to execute his killings without initial suspicion. He murdered various people through selection, stalking, and finally killing them in their homes.
When hearing about the story of James Bulger—one cannot help but to feel heartbroken and upset, not just for James and his family, but also Robert Thompson and Jon Venables. On February 12th 1993, Thompson and Venables, both just ten years old, were playing hooky from school and had decided to spend the day at an area mall. While at the mall, they noticed two year old James shopping with his mother. When James’ mother went to pay for some items, Thompson and Venables abducted James, taking him on a two and a half mile walk where they later attacked him with paint, bricks, stones, and a 22 pound metal pipe, which was believed to have caused fractures to his skull. With his injuries so severe, this is likely what caused his death.
This article has great viewpoints, use of argumentative reasoning, and shows what truly happens in the hallways of a school shooting. The main person he explains is Eric Harris, who killed over two-thousand students and faculty in a Colorado high school in 1998. He set off bombs all over the school and used a semi-automatic
John Allen Muhammad and his juvenile accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo terrorized the Washington D.C. area from October 2, 2002 until their arrest at a Maryland rest stop on October 24, 2002. Muhammad and Malvo drove around the D.C. area in a modified blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice shooting 13 random people as they went about their day to day activities. Their victims were pumping gas, buying groceries, mowing the lawn, reading a book at a bus stop, eating dinner, and one young victim was on his way to school (Albarus, 2012). In order to avoid detection, Muhammad transformed the Caprice into a “killing machine” (Siegel & Scharper, 2006). Muhammad rigged the back seat to pull down allowing for the shooter to fit into the trunk, concealed from view.
For the Application of the Criminal Justice System project of the Criminal Justice course, I chose the arrest of John Burke. This case is about the arrest and sentencing of John Burke who had shot and killed Joseph Ronan. Twenty-five year old John Burke agreed to meet with 22 year old Joseph Ronan at Ronans home, in Reading, Massachusetts on Monday, August 15, 2011 around 1pm, with the intent of purchasing Percocet pills. (Boston.com, 2013) However, shortly after entering Ronans home, Burke opened fire (News, 2011), and after shooting Joseph Ronan several times, with the belief that Ronan was involved in a robbery at Burkes apartment in April 2011 (Boston.com, 2013), fled the home.
In the early 1990’s the U.S. Supreme Court case Roper v. Simmons took place and at the same time cases that were similar were also being heard. This case involved the defendant Christopher Simmons, who commited the crime, and Donald P. Roper, the plaintiff, who was the superintendent of Potosi Correctional Center and was representing the state of Missouri. The case would never have happened if it wasn't for the actions of 17-year old Christopher Simmons of Missouri in 1993. Simmons and a couple of his friends concocted a plan to murder Shirley Crook for reasons unknown. Only Simmons and one of his two friends commited it burglarizing Crook’s residence, binding her up and then driving to a state park and throwing her full of life body off
