The Arthur Miller drama, "The Crucible," is about the kinds of predicaments that the villagers were forced into, whether they were guilty of witchcraft or not, and how it affected those around them. Adultery was depicted in the drama as well. Although John Proctor was a sinner and a strong guy, he was highly regarded. He had a wife named Elizabeth and a housekeeper named Abigail Williams in the past. Abigail and John's relationship was deceptive, covert, and improper in many ways. John decided to cheat on his wife by having an affair with Abigail. Every action has a result and will reflect on your path, hence I think John is to accountable for his own fate. People often blame Abigail for John Proctor's death because she attempted to put the blame on Elizabeth by pretending to have witchcraft performed on her with a doll. This allowed her to have John all to herself. In the film, it was revealed that Abigail had a doll made of herself with a needle stuck through her stomach, and she had stabbed herself to make it appear as though she had been the victim of witchcraft when, in reality, she only wanted to blame Elizabeth for it so she could die. and after being rejected by John, Abigail can have him. This demonstrates how eager she was to go in blaming an innocent person in order to get her way, which confirms my assertion. John was conscious of what he was doing, thus he understood adultery was a sin, which is one reason I think he is to blame for his own fate. I think John was just trying to avoid facing his problems head-on. John chose death as a way to be reborn, let go of his sins, and repent. This demonstrates that Abigail did not actually cause his death; rather, it was the guilt and shame he experienced as a result of cheating, which validates my claim.
