Walt Whitman was an American poet and journalist born on May 31, 1819. Whitman was influenced by transcendentalism, which was an idea emphasizing that to understand nature, one must analyze the reasoning or process behind it. Whitman had done many writings throughout his life that had been inspirations for other poets. For example, in the spring of 1855, Whitman published “Leaves of Grass”, which was a collection of twelve unnamed poems. This writing was enticed by Ralph Waldo Emerson, who thought that the collection of poems were “the most extraordinary piece of wit and wisdom.”
Walt Whitman is one of nine children, he grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and Long Island and was faced with many different aspects of society. Growing up he had a great fascination of the atmosphere of Brooklyn which led him to journalism at the age of twenty. In 1855 Walt Whitman self-published a collection of poetry, Leaves of Grass which was expanded and revised through many editions until the ninth “deathbed” edition which was published in 1892. His brother was wounded in Fredericksburg Virginia, shortly after Walt Whitman traveled to see him. Once he saw the aftermath he was compelled to work as a nurse in Washington, D.C. as a volunteer nurse, in this time he wrote many more poems.
Walter Whitman was an American writer during the nineteenth century. Primarily, he was known for his practical poetry and down to earth style. In his work, he displayed both realistic and philosophical views. His works, are mainly drawn from both the love of his county and his theistic world view. Whitman was greatly influential to American literature and writings.
Walt Whitman and Emily Dickerson are American poets, who wrote their poetry during the civil war. Whitman writings began when he was eleven years old; however, his poetry was different from others he addressed all “the facts of the animal economy, sex, nutriment, gestation, and birth” (1005). Furthermore, Whitman was an American democrat, former teacher, editor, community activist and journalists. His poems have been published in many papers and books. Whitman wrote on behalf of wounded soldiers, and America as a nation.
Abe Lincoln knew Walt Whitman from previous years and would even often recite some of his poems out loud or just by himself. Walt Whitman was generally inspired by Abe Lincoln and wrote many poems inspired from the president himself. When Walt Whitman traveled away from Washington D.C on 1865 to go and visit his family in Brooklyn, Walt Whitman started to go over one of his new poems called “Drum-Taps” and shortly later he received the news of Abe Lincoln's assassination. Walt Whitman with crushed within hearing about his idol being shot in the head, and to pay ovation to Abe Lincoln for all he did, Walt Whitman wrote his best known poem “O Captain My Captain”. In that poem he explained how Lincoln united the nation and succeeded in winning the Civil War, but was not able to live to see the aftermath.

Walt Whitman was my assigned poet, and he is considered one of America's most influential poets. Walt Whitman lived during the Civil War, or in the mid 1800’s. Whitman is not writing anymore because he is not alive, but his writing style is still being used. The poet lived in a few places in New York like New York City, Brooklyn, and Long Island. He also has lived in New Jersey.
There are very many themes and each of those themes can be interpreted very differently by both the writer and the reader. American romantic poets Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman wrote on the same topics and themes of romanticism, but they had very different views. Emily Dickinson was put away by society, so she cut herself off completely from the unjust and stark society. Walt Whitman on the other hand loved how diverse society and how anyone has the freedom to choose their path. Additionally when everyone’s song is combined it creates a beautiful melody.
In his opinion, he will regret his choices further down the road. He says he shall be telling his story with a sigh once the time is right. The path would negatively impact his future. The second poem is titled “O’Captain,My Captain” The poem was written by Walt Whitman as a tribute to Abraham Lincoln, our sixteenth president.
An iconic figure in the history of American literature, Walt Whitman was born on the 31st May 1819. Today his contribution and works in the poetic world have come to define sentimentalism, ambitions and some key experiences that Americans underwent in the 19th century. Even though he may have been politically inactive, his work had the will to display political views. Having survived through the civil war, he grew much affectionate perception on the nature and complexity of American polity. Whitman’s view of America was that of a culturally diverse society that we currently witness as such this vision was mainly expressed in his poetic works.

Lately there has been a grand concern towards the diets of children throughout the whole world where many support the idea that the media has a big impact when it comes to children’s food choice while some do not agree with this idea of influence. This is a burden that generates highly debates that are far from over. With this being said, this study will analyze three different points of views regarding adolescents’ food choice being influenced by media. To begin with, The Oxford University Press published a journal based on the social influence and food choice. According to Oxford`s journal, there are currently several researches that have found that the social media can either affect positively or negatively the choices people make towards
