The first reason Alexander the great wasn't so great after all, is because he was arrogant. Arrogance comes when one has too much pride, and behaves in a unkind way, for example Alexander. To begin with, in Document A there are as many as 10 cities named after himself. Firstly, this shows arrogance because he did not conquer the cities alone, his soldiers were very handy but he didn't share his victory with them. What also makes Alexander arrogant is when in Document D he cared too much about the prophecy that he painfully had the solider killed, when the soldiers only intention was to get Alexander his hat back safely. Alexander was ruthless in the sense he showed no compassion or pity for anyone that did not oblige him. In Document C written by Peter Green in 1991 it stated that as many as 7,000 Tyrians died, 2,000 military age men were crucified, and not only but 30,000 people were sold as slaves. Yes, death is terrible but when death comes from crucifixion it's worse. Crucifixion is the execution of a person by binding or nailing them too a cross. Clearly it sound very painful and no one deserves to die in such manner, but Alexander thought otherwise before killing 2,000 men this way. This made Alexander ruthless because noticeably he was mean and harsh, he did not show mercy to anyone who tried to come in the way of him ruling and conquering more land. Also, proven in Document E an estimation of 100,000 enemy soldiers and civilians were killed in only 4 major battles. This makes Alexander ruthless because, 100,000 is not a small number and to have killed so many people in just the time of 4 battles it can be concluded that he did not like anyone who disagreed with him being the leader of all, so he did what he thought was best and killed anyone without the smallest amount
