Why Did Atticus Take A Stand For Tom Robinson

For Atticus to take a stand for Tom Robinson was what I believe is the right thing to do and it makes sense. The book that this character is from is To kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The main characters of the story are Scout or also known as Jean Louise, Jem Scout's older brother, and their father Atticus Finch the man that was kind enough to take on Tom Robinson´s. Taking a stand means to stand up for something you believe in or defend something that you believe in. I believe that it did make sense for Atticus to defend Tom Robinson. One reason is that Tom wouldn’t have much of a chance in court if it was him and another lawyer that may have been not so fair with him. I also believe it would go against Atticus's character. He even says that if he didn’t take the case he couldn’t hold up his head round town or tell Scout and Jem what not to do anymore. Atticus told Scout “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... if he didn’t I think it would go against his character like I said in the first paragraph, he is seen as someone with integrity and not as someone that acts on impulse. He acts on fairness and I believe that he took the case to give Tom Robinson a fair chance in court against Mayella Ewell and by god he gave him more than a fair chance he quite literally proved that he was innocent . When Atticus brought enough evidence that Tom didn’t do it, everyone in that courtroom knew that he was innocent even though the jury said that he was guilty either way. Other things is if you read or watch the trial of Tom Robinson Atticus asks questions while he tries to explain what actually happened with Tom Robinson's side of the
