Why did Grace initially have difficulties helping students learn in her class?
They did not relate to the information she was teaching them. She mentioned giving them a test over a story about skiing and most of the students in her class knew nothing about skiing. The information the students are being taught should relate to their personal lives in some way.

It represented her as a person, she had wolves and dolphins and cute colorful decorations that she liked and felt comfortable in. Her students needed something they related to and that represented them and who they were as individuals.

In this situation, I would work with Jenny one on one and help her to fix the small mistakes that she was making and help her to understand that small mistakes are okay. I would work through her assignments with her and guide her through them to lessen her frustration.

The students struggled to work together on different tasks and did not like when other students tried to help them fix their mistakes or help them with projects, they wanted to do them on their own and their own way. These problems existed because the students did not have a sense of community and were not personally connected to one another so they felt that they had to defend themselves and that everyone just wanted to correct them and tell them they were wrong.
