The main theme that entangles itself in all of the source material is the idea of how governments should be run in such a powerful empire, such as Imperial Rome and the Han Dynasty. The Ming were able to solve this problem by not having the government add harsh and strict rules, this also improved by showing compassion towards their citizens, they also split their government into functional sections in order to help them prosper. And due to having other new governments they were able to use some of their ideas like making the ships and boats move a lot faster than usual. But for the Han government was able to prosper by establishing a new political system, they also followed the ideas of Confucianism by believing that their ruler was a father over them and they should not be lead by force. During 130BC to 110BC of his rule, he conquered the Xiongnu territory and expanded his empire in the north and west. Because of this, the Han 's knowledge of the outside world, philosophy and religion, and technology increased. While he wasn’t very popular when he was alive, his teachings eventually gained popularity and evolved into what we know today as Confucianism. Confucianism can be described in many different ways; for example, it can be called a religion, a way of governing, or just simply a way to live your life. Through his writings and teachings Confucius taught what he believed they way that people should live their life or at least how people should strive to live their life. Confucius and his disciples focused on many things though his teaching in the Analects, one being goodness. The teachings of Confucianism focused heavily of respecting and being kind to one another.
For my informational interview, I chose to interview a retired Homicide Detective name Shaun Donelson who is currently now a supervisor for detectives.
