Rahul Bagga Mr.Campbell US History, Period 0 16 December 2015 Why did Japan attack Pearl Harbor? One day that will always be remembered by America is the date of December 7, 1941, which changed American history forever. December 7, 1941 was the day the Japanese warplanes attacked Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) which stationed many of American ships and airfields. Immediately after the bombings, United States President Franklin Roosevelt declared war on Japan, leading to a direct involvement into World War ll. Japan had many reason to do so but Japan attacked Pearl harbor for three reasons which were that they had a plan for a new world order, United States were expanding their number of naval ships rapidly, and an oil embargo was placed upon Japan
Introduction The attack on Pearl Harbour occurred before World War Two, on December 7th 1941, when Japan launched a pre-emptive strike against the United States of America. Pearl Harbour, in Hawaii, was attacked, and 20 naval vessels, as well as 300 airplanes, were destroyed. The Japanese did this because the American government had imposed sanctions and trade embargoes upon Japan as a result of Japan declaring war on China and attempting to take over China’s import market, in order to solve its demographic and economic issues.2 This prompted the American congress to vote to join World War Two, two years after it had begun.2 My research task aims to discover whether or not Japan’s actions are justified.
Considering the conflicts with Asia, the attack on Pearl Harbor was not surprising. The United States provoked the Japanese into doing the attack because of an embargo. Petroleum and metal were two resources that Japan did not have enough of. The United States received knowledge that Japan wanted to attack but just didn’t get to the issue in time. Japan was very dependent on the Americans, the two met on two different occasions to try and settle the dispute, but neither of them were willing to compromise.
Why did Japan attack Pearl Harbor? If you were threatened by an individual, would you throw the first punch or wait for the attack. This is how Japan felt when they were trying to dominate Asia. On Sunday December 7, 1941 the Japanese attacked the United State’s biggest naval base, Pearl Harbor. This attack was a turning point for the United States because this was one factor that brought them into World War II to fight against the Axis Powers.
Japan ambushed Pearl Harbor with the intentions of obtaining world domination, vengeance on the United States, and to prevent becoming a third-class
The United States and Japan fought in World War II during 1941 to 1945. Japan planned to expand their land and gain resources- which led them to invade China whom was an ally of the U.S. In result, the United States cut off the supply of oil to Japan. On December 7th 1941, Japan’s air force did a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor because that is where their military base is located.
The U.S destroyed Japan's Naval power pushing their expansion back. Prior to the Battle of the Coral Sea the Japanese defeated all of its enemies from the Pacific to the Indian Oceans. This battle was important because the United States only lost one carrier out of four. Also because the United States stopped the march of the Japanese at midway, and the march never started again. The U.S destroyed Japan's naval power and Japan has never recovered.
• The reason for the Japanese attacking the location of Pearl Harbor was because it was home to the US Pacific Fleet, which was viewed as their only threat. • Preparations for the attack included the Japanese approaching the island of Oahu slowly and stealthy in order to be undetected by the American air and naval forces around the Hawaiian Islands. • They had to draw the attention of the Americans away from the naval base and towards Southeast Asia. • As the Japanese were increasingly coming up along the shores to attack, they came to the conclusion that the northern coast was more vulnerable than to the south or to the west.
On December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor, an American naval base in Hawaii, was attacked. The attack was launched by the Japanese Empire in an effort to weaken the US’s pacific military fleet because Japan was planning on invading China, one of America’s allies. The attack on Pearl Harbor was extremely concerning for many Americans because the US had never been attacked by a foreign nation before, aside from the Revolutionary War. As a result of this increase in concern, the US joined World War ll and Japanese- Americans became the victim of lots of scrutiny. Slowly Americans of Japanese descent had their rights stripped away.
That Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor to establish a New World Order that could not be created with America as a powerful country. The New World Order that was in Japan’s vision was a land where the Yamato race was the dominate one. The Japanese were not pleased with always being
Pearl Harbor was Japan 's way of showing the U.S. that they were done trying to make peace. President Roosevelt had been having meetings with Japan 's Minister of War to try to keep the U.S. out of the war (Sibilla). When Japan attacked the U.S. before declaring war, it ended the peace negotiations that everyone had hoped would become an agreement not to fight between the two countries.
In 1941, the battle of Hong Kong took place when the Japanese Imperial Army attacked Hong Kong. This attack focuses on Shing Mun Redoubt, which was a defense line for the British in Hong Kong that fell to the Japanese. The reason why Shing Mun Redoubt fell is debatable, as some believe that the Japanese were simply just too strong, but other believe that it was the lack of strength in the Ally’s defense line was the cause of this fall. Both of these reasons were supported by evidence, but to come to a complete conclusion, we will have to see which of these two reasons has the most evidence. Japan attacked Hong Kong as it was under Britain, which were their enemies, and it would be a jab to them if they lost, and the Japanese were on a train ride, with every stop being another success; after winning against China, a huge country, Hong Kong didn’t seem like a strong opponent.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was devastating for America, but how bad was it? There were 2 waves of Japanese bombers that attacked Pearl Harbor, killing over 2000 people and sinking 7 battleships, but luckily none of the oil storages were damaged. Pearl Harbor should not be forgotten, and it was the turning point of WWII, forcing America to join the war. December 7, 1941, on a Sunday, on the radar 2 waves of planes were flying to Pearl Harbor, but they thought they were visiting but unexpectedly they started bombing Pearl Harbor. People panicking and soldiers weren 't even out of bed when the bombings happening in the battleships, 7 battleships sunk, 347 aircrafts destroyed, and over 3000 people were dead or wounded.

Odysseus: A Hero The classic and epic story of Odysseus and his travels, titled The Odyssey, has touched humankind since it was first told in the eighth century. Over this time, people have debated endlessly about whether or not the main character could be classified as a typical hero. Odysseus did some things that could make him seem dishonest or unethical, but does that disqualify him from being a hero? Overall, the narrative portrays a character this is not inherently flawless, but he is an inspiration, as well as someone who can persevere through challenges, and is simply trying to do what is best for everyone, therefore embodying a quintessential hero.
