The british colonies in America were the freest, most prosperous people in the British Empire, but still decided to start a revolution. The british colonies started a revolution from britain because the colonies felt disenfranchised as a part of Britain. Colonists felt that unfair taxes such as the tea and stamp acts were unjust and showed how britain was taking advantage of the colonists subservience. Colonists also felt greatly underrepresented in parliament and believed that the colonies should be allowed to participate in and affect policies, especially policies that affected the laws of the colony. Colonists also felt that they were not truly free as a part of Britain. As long as colonists were governed by an “outside government” colonists
