The American Revolution was a war between the American Colonies and Great Britain over the independence of the Colonies. The violence began in 1775 with the battle of Lexington and Concord and ended at the battle of Yorktown in 1781t, however, the war ended itself in 1783 when the peace treaty with the British was signed. During this revolutionary era, the colonist gained their freedom despite the advanced appearance the British had. The British had ambition, much like the patriots did, but they lost due to the lack of many things. One reason is having no knowledge of the land. The continental army had the advantage of fighting in their own terrain. The British could possibly rely on the loyalist, but nonetheless the rebels had the upper-hand.
