Sparta is a great city-state to live in. Spartans focus on military and have a great form of government. Oligarchy is the form of government Spartans used, wich means ruled by few. Sparta’s military was very strong, when Spartan boys were to the age of seven they were sent to military training, since the Spartans started training so early when men were at the age of thirty they could join the professional army. “The czar refused to listen to demands for political change and in October, a general strike occurred as workers in the railways, industry and the banks stopped working” (document 3) A strike occurred because the czar didn’t listen to political concerns. This shows how unpleasant people were with the government. This can lead to the overthrow of the Russian monarchy. In document 3 it states, “...when a peaceful demonstration of 200,00 men, women and children in front of the Winter Palace in St Petersburg calling for reform was ended by the police and troops guarding the palace” Many people were unhappy with the Russian government and the fact the police were involved suggests how the government was willing to use force to stop political

Democracy for Americans may have been limited prior to the Early Republic, however, there are several reasons why I argue that democracy was expanded during this time. The Missouri Admission Act of 1820 allowed people in Missouri to form a state government, George Washington’s Farewell Address in 1796 provided guidance to the American people on how to approach certain political matters and an 1815 engraving titled “American Guided by Wisdom” showed how Americans felt following the ending of the War of 1812. These primary sources help to argue and support my
The Anti-Federalist’s structure of the government was the right way the government should have been shaped. Their efforts clearly showed that the protection of our individual rights, and prevention of the government having too much power over the states was their main goal. Though it was viewed that the Anti-Federalists “lost” in the debate with the Federalists, they achieved a lot. The Anti-Federalists favored pure democracy, wanting a federal system where the states had more power than the government.

“No two persons ever read the same book” (Edmund Wilson). The beauty of books lies in the ability of literature to present itself in a way that it can be perceived differently by individuals. While the greater meaning behind the book is ultimately delivered in the same way, the views and knowledge are absorbed differently by the reader. Where one reader may find answers to questions, another may find the opposite to be true. By this notion, pieces of literature challenge the mind to think critically, and by doing so, enriches the mind with knowledge and insight on topics one does not normally think about.
