An inference that can be made in the text Animal Farm by George Orwell is that the animals didn’t like Mr. Jones and his men. According to the text it states, “In past years Mr. Jones, although a hard master, had been a capable farmer, but of late he had fallen on evil days. He had become much disheartened after losing money in a lawsuit, and had taken to drinking more than was good for him.” This quote shows that the animals didn’t like Mr. Jones and his men because it states that he is evil, disheartened and was drinking too much. Evil acts are mean and cruel. That would make the animals not like Mr. Jones because when a person is disheartened that means they lose their confidence. Jones drinks too much that usually means he is drunk. When someone is drunk it shows that they are not in the right mind. They lose the responsibilities that they need to uphold for the care of the animals. When these responsibilities are upheld the animals begin to dislike Mr. Jones and his men. From the actions Mr. Jones are making, his men aren’t taking over and making sure the animals are cared for. Also according to the text it states, “His men were idle and dishonest, the fields were full of weeds, the buildings wanted roofing, the hedges were neglected, and the animals were underfed.” Mr. Jones men were not caring for the farm and the animals. The farm had weeds which would decrease the supply of food the animals have. The building didn’t have roofs which means that when bad weather comes the animals are in danger. The hedges are taking over land that can be used for food and the animals are in grave danger when they aren’t fed because food is a priority to live. These living conditions are not good for the animals which would make the animals dislike the men. The behavior of the men aren’t good either because the men weren’t providing for the animals and if Mr. Jones asked the men were getting their work done, the men would lie and say they
