Things like that is what student these days see and find unappealing. So let's take Adam Chapnicks’ advice and conceive and developed more way to appeal students to think about the liberal arts. Teacher should learn how to make it fun to learn. One thing Adam does not mention, which seem to be a great idea is that students should not be required to take intensive classes of liberal art. This is where we see the most budget cuts happening. When budget cuts happen, the first programs to go are usually the art programs. It's sad because art programs tend to be the most therapeutic for children. This was a powerful essay. In college departments are required to have a certain amount of students enrolled in one of the departments courses. If a academic department in the school cannot reach a certain amount of students over a certain time the department will have to close. Arts and humanities classes are on the decline due to the number of job opportunities available. However, arts and humanities courses are important to help develop an understanding for literature and art. Many college students are not a fan of taking arts and humanities courses because the courses do not correspond with their major.
Music and Art classes have been proven to have had a big effect on students. These classes have brought up grades, attendnce rate and higher SAT scores. These classes have opended up the kids mind and have made them more complex thinkers in other classes with higher level questions,better understadnings and higher attendence rates. Kerry Washigton a well known actress and one out of many celeberties that have helped by adopting these schools and helping to rasie money has said that without classes like this when she was young she would not be who she is today. Washigton said that with these classes she learned how to work with others and was an esstinal part in her education growing up.

With class, there is a strong indication of where a person residential area is. Living in Trumbull the property tax is high because the houses are big, and the majority of the town are homeowners. Thus, creates a bigger pool of money for the local government to fund the public schools in my area. My high school is ranked 20th in the state of Connecticut (Niche). Where twenty-five AP classes are offered to give greater opportunity for individualized programming and accomplishments.
It is important to study something in school that you enjoy but that is also useful in the real world. I have always been asked, “what's your major?”. I would answer art history and always got a response like, “what are you going to do with that?”. Most parents and students don’t feel that there is a good foundation from learning Art History. It is often heard from high school and college students (influenced by their parents) that to succeed you must major in science, technology, engineering, or business.
For years, Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) struggled to reform Bates Middle School’s, a highly diverse and largely minority populated school, performance as indicated by state standardized testing scores, which were 14-27% behind the county average. “Bates was marked for Corrective Action (the third and highest tier of school improvement) by AACPS” (Snyder, Klos & Grey-Hawkins, 2014, p. 3). So, must of them must help you to encourage your creativity. And not only in specific areas, I personally don 't think schools are doing enough to encourage the students creativity. There are many more arts and subjects schools should use to encourage creativity. Including physical subjects, like PE. And those results should improve in our society.
Modern day schooling forces students to fit a mold only a select few can fill by creating too much structure and having an overbearing emphasis on math and science, when other, less structured extracurricular activities can promote respect, discipline, and teamwork. Most would agree that, in early stages of life, art is a detrimental and necessary part of any child’s early development and education. In fact, Pre-K through third grade’s education curriculum is usually centered around promoting early creativity and a fondness for learning. Kids learn math by counting colorful pieces of bricks. They learn both science and the basic principles of functionality by playing with train sets and toy cars.
“Arts education is critical for helping students develop creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities” (Chernin). The arts can help people succeed. Art is a way that people can express themselves and share their beliefs. Arts in education can help people focus and attend. Fine arts are important because they make a huge impact on kids education, they make an impact on how people pursue their life careers, and it also helps with stress and anxiety.
1.2 Statement of Significance Art can do lots of things that can create powerful and great changes in ourselves. Artist is someone that is so hard to read if we fail to understand them to interpret the underlying meaning behind their painting because it is their getaway to express their emotions and desires to the community. To accomplish this, the artists are communicating with the society by delivering their messages through their artworks.
