Although many athletes get high salaries and sometimes help charities most athletes spend it on drugs, women and fast cars. First and foremost, children are starving, homeless, and dying while athletes are out in the city living the “fast life.” Children are starving without any food hoping and praying that they get to see the light of the sun the next day while athletes are out partying getting wasted out of their minds not worrying about the massive headache they 're gonna have the next day. Athletes should not get as much money as they do, more money should go to charities and to help children and people out starving and dying. In addition, athletes take for granted all the money they have because they know they can easily go back out to the court and replace the money they spent. Some athletes do give to charities, one of the most charitable athletes is Christiano Ronaldo he once gave $165,00 to fund a cancer in Portugal. Christiano also once gave $83.00 to a ten year old fan who needed brain surgery. There are not a lot of athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo, whom are generous enough to donate to charities. …show more content…

Athletes may have worked their way up to success but the homeless children didn’t plan to be homeless, starving children didn’t wish to be starving, these children also do hard work but they get nothing in return. People may give them a meal but that only fills you one day not the rest of your life. In my personal opinion, college athletes should be paid due to seeing first-hand the immense amount of dedication the players put into their sport. I believe that by placing their sport above all else, making it a sole factor of their focus, athletes treat their participation in their sport as a full time job. Being required to practice year around taking up most, if not all spare time that they aren’t in class or studying, makes maintaining an outside job or way to make money seems nearly impossible.
