Athletes used to take chemical substances in sport competitions during the last three decades to increase their level of performance and achieve their own records. However, that chemical substances, which now have the name of performance-enhancing drugs, have been illegalized in sport competitions and therefore athletes using them would face ethical problems and risk their image. Some good example of these drugs is erythropoietin, growth hormone, stimulant drugs and anabolic steroids which always used by athletes to build their muscles. Alternatively, sport innovations which are the means and equipment that sport companies produce to give athletes the comfort they need and, as a result, the efficiency in performance can be used in sport competition instead of performance-enhancing drugs. Performance-enhancing drugs and sport innovation are ethically two completely opposite issues. While take performance-enhancing drugs is seen wrong from all angles, sport innovations, on the other hand, are ethically and legally acceptable. Many sport innovations are now available in the markets are specially designed for the comfort of every athlete. Those sport innovations can simply help athletes do the best they can without any of the side effects drugs can cause them. As suggested by Miah (2006 p13), the significance of those innovations or material equipments can be closely observed running events. Shoe technology has been improving and manufactures have been constantly looking for new ways to make runners' shoes as shock-absorbing as possible. It also worth mentioning that shoe industry has been concerned with strategies of making runners' shoes lighter than before. This involves, as reported by Miah (2006p13), eliminating unimportant materials used in the shoe to make it lighter and easier to run with. Nike company has produced a kind of swimming suite that is called the "Sharkskin" which allows swimmers to swim 3 times faster than the old suits do and organize the muscles movement besides protect the swimmer's body and minimize the chance of muscles stress (Takagi,2004 p8-9).
