I think that non-human animals like Orangutans should be given the same rights as humans for many reasons. As stated in the article on Sandra the ape, apes are said to have sufficient cognitive functions and share up to about 97% of the same DNA as Homo sapiens. Although Orangutan are physically embodied by human bodies, their thinking process and intelligent minds make them very similar to humans. In conclusion, Orangutans may not be recognized as humans, disputing Daniel Dennet’s thoughts, but they still deserve the same rights that humans earn.
