Did you know that the average wage of a pro athlete in the NFL is 2.1 million dollars per year and also that the average wage for a pro athlete playing in the NBA is 6.2 million dollars (Hourani)? Many athletes around the world are making crazy amounts of money just by having fun. For example, Tom Brady makes an astonishing 20.5 million dollars per year (Greenberg). Many people strongly disagree with pro athletes getting paid 10 times as much as doctors, teachers, and firefighters who risk their lives every single day. On the other hand, many people believe that athletes deserve their salaries they earn. For example, according to the article “Are Pro Athletes Paid Too Much?” published on February 23 of 2015, the NBA makes around 4.7 billion dollars per year and it is all thanks to the athletes that risk their bodies every day to provide quality content (Anastasia). If pro basketball players are the main factor in the NBA earning 4.7 billion dollars per year, their salaries should be even higher. “If anything, athletes aren't paid enough, some people say. Only about half of the $4.7 billion in revenue the NBA is expected to make this season will go toward players' salaries” (Anastasia). In 2017 there were for 491 players in the NBA. If they were to distribute the 4.7 billion dollars that the NBA makes per year, each player should earn over 9 million dollars. Millions of people around the world come pay to watch these athletes play. It only makes sense that if all these people around the world are paying to watch the athletes play that the athletes deserve the money as long as they are performing. Overall, pro athletes deserve the money they earn because they perform at a high level for millions of people to watch and bring in a lot of money for there
