Does Starwars still deserve the same amount of attention now as it did 30+ years ago? Our class watched the first Starwars movie, Episode IV ‘A New Hope,’ so that we could all grasp our opinions on this topic. We had spent three days watching this movie, and in my opinion, it was worth it. I believe that the series deserves every bit of attention that it gets, good or bad. Other people may not agree with this claim. Let me explain why. “Star Wars came out like 40 years ago though!” Many people’s very first argument is that the movie is very old. Another argument people like to make is that a different set of movies was much better. That claim however is arguable. Even though the movie is old, it is still considered one of the best movies ever produced in the ‘70s. Not to mention that there has been seven other movies since the first one, with two different T.V. shows, and another movie coming out at the end of the year (2017). After this, you have people who say that the Star Trek movies were better. This is a mere opinion of only one person. In my opinion you will always have people fighting over which movie was better. Lastly, you have people who say “I don’t think the movies are good, therefore media attention is unneeded.” Just because someone doesn’t like a movie, that does not mean the rest of the world can’t enjoy it. That would almost be like saying you saying CNN shouldn’t be allowed on T.V. solely because your mother doesn’t like it.
