Do video games incite violence among youngr adolescents? Well, the answer is a bit complicated. Video games have been the scapegoat for school shootings and other violent behaviors in the past ten to fifteen years. I've been a huge fan of videogames for as long as I can remember. I've played just about every type the world has to offer as well. I've also seen and I know a lot of people who play them as well. While I do see aggression in some, others are perfectly fine (and the aggression I do see is very minimal). The whole argument that video games cause violence is definitely a hard topic to dissect.

With so many video games, how can you protect your child? There are quite a few things you can do to help reduce violent behavior in kids. You can set a time limit for them to play, you can monitor what they are playing, and you can also set parental controls to block specific violent games. With tools like these, parents need to take initiative with what their kid plays. With so many tools at their disposal, parents still don't use them and then blame an outlet of entertainment for their downfall. Parents are also the catalyst for these incidences, but none will admit it. Buying your child a game made for people seventeen and up is bad. Games have ratings for a reason, and parents need to abide by this rule more often. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a kid pitch a fit because he can't get the newest violent video game only to have his dad give in and buy it for him. Keep your kids safe and on a long leash. Don't baby them too much, but at least look at what they're playing, and maybe even try playing with
