Why Families Are Responsible For Mercutio's Death

In Act Three Scene One Mercutio is killed and says the famous quote, "a plague a' both your houses!" The Capulets and Montagues are both responsible for the death of Mercutio. The first reason is that the families choose to fight. My second is that there is no effort by both families to stop the fighting. My third reason is that it takes such an extreme measure to end the fighting and hostility between the families. Mercutio was neither associated with the Capulet or Montagues and he still was caught in the crossfire. The first reason why both families are responsible is because they both choose to fight with one another. One example how they choose to fight is in act one scene one Sampson and Gregory of house Capulet are walking through the streets of Verona. They are talking about the things they would do to montague men and women. They come across some montague servants and they start a fight in the streets. The fight ends with the prince finally attempting to put an end to the fighting. This is just one of the many examples the families choose to fight. Romeo and Juliet loved each other and the death of Mercutio caused by the families constant fighting had led them to commit suicide eventually. Romeo was banished by the prince for killing Tybalt. Friar Lawrence had come up with a plan. The plan was to have Juliet drink a sleeping potion and have Romeo come fetch her but Romeo received the wrong news and he thought Juliet had died. After he had figured that out he went to Juliets tomb and killed himself. Juliet woke up and found Romeo dead and then killed herself because she could not handle the pain. This makes them responsible for Mercutio's death because both houses will stop fighting for nothing and this caused Mercutio's
